Defiance is a game that changes the way we look at MMORPGs. When we here the term MMORPG, we think of a fantasy game like World of Warcraft, but Trion, the creators of Defiance, decided to make a bold step in making a science fiction MMORPG, that ALSO ties in with the current T.V show. Some may call them crazy, but I think it’s a good idea (as long as the show is good) because it strengthens the story in the game. The game takes place in the San Francisco Bay Area, after a war that was waged with a loose alliance of alien races, known as Voltans. Aside from the launch date, Defiance has been a great game. Even though the fighting mechanics are kind of boring, it will still have you hooked for hours on end. Defiance also has a lot of customization options, so you can change you character, based on your preferred play-style. Despite some of its bad reviews, I still really like this game, and I recommend it to those that enjoy sci-fi games that let you play with other players from around the world.
